Autumn pests of cereals

In the past year, soil pests for winter crops have been a huge problem.Their pressure this year is slightly less, but warm weather has led to the fact that they still appeared in many regions. One of the autumn pests that have hit the nascent plantings of winter cereals this year is the Bread beetle (Zabrus tenebrioides). It appears locally, mainly in fields where cereals are grown in monoculture or simplified form. Its larvae hatch from eggs all summer and early autumn, then they willingly feed on seedlings, which are their delicacy. During the day, the larvae do not feed, as they hide in hollows at a depth of 30 cm. The larvae of locasia can cause significant damage. In addition to eating leaf crumbs between veins, they can drag whole leaves and plants into the corridors. A large population of larvae leads to the appearance of square larvae, which most often appear first in the intercellular fields,

Unfortunately, there are no registered drugs against Elcas. During the treatment of aphids, we will probably also reduce the amount of this pest to some extent if, for example, we used acetamiprid with pyrethroids or only pyrethroids. Where a pest has appeared, it is worth remembering that it is best to deal with it with the help of a varied crop rotation, as well as several stubble plowing or pre-sowing soil cultivation.
